“A Charlotte Lucas gets her Mr. Darcy. That’s the best way I can describe this proposal.

Brent and I met in 2007 and since then, we’ve been inseparable. On May 18, 2013, Brent popped the question during curtain call of Pride & Prejudice, presented and adapted by The Vintage Theater in Scranton, PA, where I was playing the role of Charlotte Lucas. It was a Jane Austen meets Mad Men take of the story set in the 1960′s, and it was unbelievably fun. On the last night, there was a hum of energy that you find in all shows, but this was different – because some cast members knew what was going to happen after we took our final bows.

Conor, the producer and actor who played our Bingley, called me up to the center of the stage. I had no idea why – until I saw Brent step through the door. My answer before I even knew what to say was a resounding ‘YES!’

In front of a sold-out crowd, Brent told me how for the past five years, I’ve been his companion, best friend, and love of his life and that he couldn’t imagine life without me. All I could do was cry/laugh and nod my head when he popped the question. I was so overwhelmed with love and happiness. Such an incredible moment – and it’s even better with video, because I think the reactions of the rest of the cast are just as fun!”
