“I was looking for my now husband after his AIT graduation ceremony when a female soldier came up to me and asked, “Are you from Hawaii?” I told her, “Yeah,” and she handed me a red rose and said, “This is for you.” I was confused because in Hawaii we give flower leis not red roses, but before I could say anything she walked away and another soldier handed me rose. I saw a line of soldiers forming, and after about 5 roses I started to cry. About 50+ roses later, my husband proposed. I didn’t hear him say, “Will you marry me?” because it was noisy and I had covered my face… so I took a while to say yes. LOL. I don’t think anyone could put more thought into a proposal, especially while being at combat medic training!”
